Kali: Blue Steel
Aug0
This is Kali from the one and only… Davie County High. And when I say one and only, I mean one and only. Literally. But you’d never guess this girl was from a small town. To start off, she aspires to be a lawyer or a broadcast journalist and hopes to one day live in Charleston. As you can see, Kali is very ambitious. But that’s not all she is. She’s also a real fun-loving girl who loves to explore. And boy, does the camera love her!
Though she refers to herself on occasion as a nerd, we don’t see her as such by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, she is quite the well-rounded young lady. She loves sports, loves being with the girls, and loves giving back to the community by volunteering her time as a cheerleading coach and tutor. Basically, she’s the epitome of the All-American Girl. Speaking of red, white and blue…
Kali is leaning towards attending Alabama when she graduates. Though Aaron spent a majority of the shoot trying to convince her that NC State is the best and only way to go (Man, he’s stubborn)! But if ‘Bama is what she wants, then we fully believe that that’s exactly where she’ll end up. Go Crimson Tide!
Kali was a pleasure to be around and quick to catch on to Aaron’s crazy humor. For example, she hardly flinched when Aaron tried to coax her into chasing storms with her eyes (another one of his infamous one-liners). Or tried to confuse her with his newest phrase, “This is going downhill south.” But clearly Kali did an incredible job at modeling despite Aaron’s antics. All the while maintaining her ever-so-perfect “Blue Steel” look. Thank you, Kali, for a great time! And of course, for not caving into Aaron’s attempt to convert you to the Wolfpack.
And just for the record, if by some odd chance the lawyer/ broadcast journalist careers don’t work out, we think you’d make a great Beyonce!
P.S. Hey Aaron… um… for future reference, I believe it’s going downhill fast, not south.

Amanda: Me like, Me like!
Aug0
Hi all, this is Amanda from Piedmont. She’s a Varsity cheerleader, runs Track, does Gymnastics, plays piano (deep breath) aaaand participates in a number of clubs at school. But the list doesn’t stop there. She also won Prom Princess and Miss Congeniality. And with a sweet face and disposition like hers, how could she not?
To say we had a good time with Amanda would be an understatement. Her and her mother were a delight to be around. And quite funny. Let’s just say my all time favorite line from a parent came from Amanda’s mom… “I’m not a witch.” And no, she most certainly isn’t. Though I’m glad she cleared that up for us!
Amanda loves all things music (well except Scream-o and Bluegrass) and any type of snacks. She claims food is food and loves it all. Though she doesn’t like chocolate. Hmmm, well, we’ll let that one slide for now but I might have to hold the bluegrass hatred against you. Ok, that’s not true. But seriously, you should give it a try sometime (Nickel Creek and Mumford and Sons are a good place to start).
Some people say Amanda resembles Julia Stiles. I believe I’d have to somewhat agree with them. And don’t ask me how I know this, but I’m pretty sure she likes taking pictures with hay too.
Amanda says she lives life to the fullest, loves the outdoors and the country and loves being spontaneous and adventurous. And ladies and gentlemen, she speaks the truth. This is one girl who knows who she is and what she stands for. Which is one of the many reasons why her photos turned out as awesome as they did. Because they’re completely and 100% her. Just the way we like it.

Kara: Hurricane Heart
Aug0
Meet Kara from Piedmont. She’s a cheerleader who loves to swim, read and hang out with friends. She also likes to laugh. A lot. Which may have been our favorite thing about her. Aside from the fact that she has seen “Dumb and Dumber,” the best movie of all time. We’d like to send out a special thanks to Kara’s dad for that one. Needless to say, we all became instant friends.
Kara descibes herself as tomboyish and finds herself as the middle child of 4 sisters and 1 brother. Which in my opinion, makes her well-rounded and laid back. And appears to be no stranger to sarcasm. In fact, she told me directly that she enjoyed Aaron’s sarcasm, which was in great abundance during Kara’s shoot. Which made us enjoy her even more.
And with an awesome smile like her’s, we weren’t too surprised to find out that she’s considering going to dental school one day. Either way, she has every intention of attending college, possibly even Wilmington.
As you can see, Kara did an awesome job picking her outfits and accessories for her shoot. They perfectly display her personality and gave us some fun colors to work with. She even changed her hairstyle halfway through the shoot. All that to say, she looked awesome and therefore, so do her pictures. And another special thanks to Kara’s dad for all of the beautiful landscaping!
How we do get such awesome shots? Well, let’s just say that Aaron’s incredibe one-liners may have something to do with it. Such as his newest encouraging line: “There’s a Hurricane in your heart. And… go!” He has more than one phrase to elicit the kind of expression he’s looking for. And Kara nailed it (see image number 3 to see what I mean).
And then…

Halie: Way Cooler than Taylor
Aug0
Way cooler than who? Well, Halie from Piedmont has been told more than once that she resembles none other than Taylor Swift. And while we were able to catch glimpses of the star in this super awesome senior, we prefer to chalk it up to good ol’ Southern charm. And the way we see it, is that Halie very much stands alone and apart from anyone else we’ve ever known, seen or heard. And to say she was a pleasure to work with would be an understatement. Laid back and relaxed is the best way to describe her and we enjoyed every second of our shoot with her. And boy, is she good lookin’!
As I mentioned before, Halie will be a Senior at Piedmont. She’s involved in a number of clubs (including the National Honor Society) and most times you’ll find her cheering for the football and basketball teams. And her parents own a local country store, the Polk Mountain Market. You should drob by and visit. It’s full of country charm and great pizza. So if you love pizza, be sure to call ‘em up and order one!

Halie claims that she’s not very creative. But Aaron and I didn’t buy that for a second. You can tell by the way she dresses that her claim is far from the truth. We loved her bright colors and willingness to try whatever. Bottom line: we had a blast!
And if any of you out there reading/ seeing this, want pictures like Halie’s… well, call us today and schedule your appointment. You’ll be glad you did! Call us 704.888.2881 or email me at haley@bamboostudios.net
(And for those who were wondering, yes, we do have the same name. And yes, it was confusing at times. And yes, I believe she spells her name cooler than mine. Though I’m growing used to the new nickname I’ve developed as a result… “H.” So thank you for that, Halie! And I mean that!)
Adam | Cobra
Jul0
Meet Adam. He’ll be a senior at West Stanly. And if you’re thinking he looks familiar… well, it may be because we worked with his sister last year. And they both have the same piercing eyes. Just ask Adam — it’s all I could talk about during his shoot. His eyes are stunning. Literally and figuratively.

Adam plays football at West and loves Sundrop. And for those reasons and many more, we’re a big fan. He did an awesome job on his shoot (clearly!) and we had a blast.

As you can see, Adam loves his car and loves going to the track with it to race. And if you’re lucky enough, you just might catch a glimpse of it driving around the streets of Locust.

Adam is a perfect example of what it means to have a personality-infused senior session. As you can see from his shoot, we love when our Seniors bring clothes and props that are important to them. And the result? Incredibly awesome pictures that have your name written all over them (Figuratively, not literally. Though we can do that too, if you’d like).

Need it Done? Call Wil.
May0
Aaron may be the man with the plan, but Wil seems to have it pretty together himself. He goes to Stanly Community College and he owns his own landscaping business. Yes, OWNS. Other than that, he loves to hunt, fish, and hang out with friends AND girls (His words, not mine!).
Wil is definitely what you’d call the outdoorsy type. Which was fun for us because we were able to get some shots of him in his hunting gear, riding his 4-wheeler, and leaning up against a fancy John Deere tractor. We love it when people give us a good glimpse at who they are and what they enjoy doing in their spare time. We discovered a lot about Wil. Including his love for cheerwine and peanut butter crackers. And if I remember correctly, I believe Aaron even gave him a nickname. Creek Boy.
But all jokes aside, Wil’s a fun guy (though we judge him for never having seen “Dumb and Dumber”). He’s laid back. Goofy. Funny. And good-lookin’. What more could you ask for in a model? And seriously, if you need it (and by it, we’re talking about awesome landscape work) done, call Wil.
And if you’re looking to get some awesome senior pictures done, call us at 704.888.2881 or email me at haley@bamboostudios.net. We look forward to working with you!

the one. the only. THE Jonathan Lemmon: Part Deux
May0
Yo, so check it out. Our friend, Jonathan Lemmon, is getting ready to release his new EP on May 18th. It’s entitled ‘Mission Trip’ and from what we’ve heard so far, we’re just lovin’ it! His single, ‘Tell Them’ is awesome and you can give it a listen HERE on his MySpace page. His new project will be available through both Amazon.com and iTunes so be sure to check out his other songs as well. For more information, follow him on Facebook.
We had the pleasure of shooting (with a camera) Jonathan last Fall and loved every second of it. If you need a refresher or don’t remember him from our previous blog, check it out here. Jonathan’s a great guy with great music and we couldn’t be more excited for him. Oh and be sure to check out the album cover, photograph by Bamboo Studios.
The Intimidator
May0
Hi all. We’d like to introduce you to Kevin. And Kevin, we’d like to introduce you to everyone. Everyone, Kevin. Kevin, everyone. He is a senior this year and will be attending WCU in the Fall.

As you can see, Kevin’s faith is extremely important to him. And we enjoyed capturing that side of him. As well as his love for basketball and sports. And, well, if you check out the second to last photo, you’ll see what we mean when we say that Kevin is quite the goofball. But that is precisely why we’re such fans of Kevin. He’s well-rounded, a little bit weird (which means he fits right in with the likes of us), and loves making people laugh. All in all, he’s awesome. Like really really awesome.

As some of you may know, and others may not, we love fun shoes here. We’re talking boots (cowboy and/or rain), heels, flippy-floppys, tennis shoes, snow-shoes, clown shoes… you name it. So we were thrilled when Kevin brought along a pair of awesome yellow basketball shoes. And Kevin made those shoes look GOOD. So good that Aaron and I both want a pair. And that, ladies and gentleman, is the mark of an expert model. Way to go, Kevin. Nike, commends you!

And that nose! Those are the kinds of props we’re always asking our seniors to bring. Objects that help bring out the best in you. For some it’s a car. For others it’s instruments. And for Kevin, it’s a clown nose. But we don’t discriminate, we welcome all of them with open arms.

We had such a good time with Kevin. As we do with all of our seniors. We know for most of you, senior pictures are on the horizon for you. So why not come here where it’s just as much about the experience as it is about the final product. Call us at 704.888.2881 for more information or if you’d like to schedule your appointment.
And for those of you who are interested, don’t forget to join us here at the studio for our open house party next Thursday, May 13th for good times and good deals. If you sign up and book your appointment the night of our party, your on-location session is only $98 (that’s a 50% discount)! Sounds good, doesn’t it? We’d have to agree. So seriously, come join us. We’d love to have you!
